What's Coming in Through the Back Door?

When I was considering whether to come back to this blog, I was concerned that there wouldn't be a ton of topics to write and discuss in non-election years. Even though things in politics are constantly happening, not all of it is blog-worthy. It's just the day-to-day running of the country.

So far, my fears have been completely unfounded. In fact, now what concerns me is the breakneck pace at which the Obama administration is pushing through legislation. Granted, they are trying to make their first 100 days count, but there are so many balls in the air right now that while we are all focused on the economy and the massive federal spending bills, there are so many other things being shuffled in the back door.

Here's one bill that caught my eye as I was looking through all the proposed bills that are before congress right now:

H.J. Res 5
Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.

The U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary is considering a bill that would repeal the Constitution's 22nd Amendment prohibiting a president from being elected to more than two terms in office. Rep. Jose Serrano, D-NY, introduced the bill.

That sure would be an appropriate bill for his majesty.

Next up...The Fairness Doctrine!

Rep. Serrano has introduced the same bill for the last 6 years. He must not be a fan of the 22nd Amendment.

HOPEFULLY that will not come to anything, although we will now be watching it very closely.
Oh there is PLENTY for you to be talking about....how about over 8000 earmarks pushed through on the stimulus bill with a promise to not have the same old government antics happening. Sounds and looks like the same old business per usual to me! Trust me....you will not be bored.

Jeff: Yes, he has introduced this bill multiple times but this is exactly the type of administration and climate that could actually get it passed this time.

Happy at Home: Working on a earmark post now. Ugh, I hate this bill.

I'd be more worried if I thought anyone besides those left wing extremists cowering in the corners (did I say that right, Jeff?) will vote for our fearless leader after this first term. Watch for the Republicans to rally (or anyone really) to raise up a leader that will help bring us back to a more middle ground. This extreme pendulum swing is wearing us all out.

That is a dreadful thing indeed. Keep us in the loop. Whether Republican or Democrat we need to allow these men and women time to serve and then time to step down.
