Fred Thompson dropped his presidential bid Tuesday, after the former Tennessee senator and actor finished third in the South Carolina primary and was unable to score a victory in any of the early primaries or caucuses.
“Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people,” Thompson said in a statement.

First, let me say HALLELUJAH! I'm so energized by this blog - I've been longing for years to become even more informed and less "issues" oriented. I can't wait to glean from this process - and engage my brain in these healthy ways! It looks great, and I love your purpose statement. Thanks for being obedient to the stirring you felt to start it!
Second, love your background info on Bhutto. She's long struck me as a strong, purposeful woman and I was saddened by her death. I appreciate learning about the legacy that she came from and that she has created for Pakistan even in her untimely death.
Third, I am so sad that Thompson dropped out. I knew he didn't have much of a shot, but I liked what he brought to the table. He struck me as plain-spoken, well-educated about his views, and far more consistent in his life. A man of integrity. Now I need to get on the stick and see who I can vote for in our primary in April . . .

I love the potential of people becoming informed in their decision making rather than doing what so-and-so is doing or voting based on things that ultimately will not impact our future (like someone's hairstyle, accent, etc.)
